Capricorn coast beauties

Capricorn Coast is not just beautiful, but also very special to our family, as our 6-year-old daughter was born here. Having been away for a few years, whilst still enjoying my daughter's beauty every day, I had forgotten how beautiful this region is! The birth place, Emu Park, has it all: fishing, crabbing, beaches, blue waters, green hills as a backdrop... Parks are plentiful and easy to access, and the Singing ship plays its different tunes according to the weather. Great Keppel island is just a short boat trip away with excellent snorkelling and swimming, and you can spot turtles, dolphins and even whales if you are lucky. We were accompanied by a mother and calf following our boat a fair way while I was heavily pregnant with my daughter. Emus might not be a common sight in Emu Park any more, but we do remember seeing a mother with two chicks on the side of the road one time. There must be something about mothers and babies in this area, as I also fell pregnant with our 5-year-old daughter here.

Yeppoon does not hold the same significance to our family as Emu Park, but it has some stunning beaches and beautiful views. And the cafe and shopping strip in Yeppoon is lovely too! You can't go wrong no matter where you stop on the coast, Lammermoor and Kinka beach, Cooee Bay and Causeway Lake are all worth their while. We stopped at Causeway Lake this time for some fishing as well as long walks on the beach AND a climb up a sandy hill that nearly gave us another Capricorn coast baby, that's how tough it was for me at eight months pregnant.

And even though I don't wish for this to sound like tourism promotion, it nearly does... But that's just how I see the Capricorn coast, it is magic!

On top of the hill near Causeway Lake: five kids and - luckily - still counting.

The climb wasn't only tough on mum but on the 2-year-old too. If you decide to fall on your face, choose soft sand!

Down the hill is always easy!

Even the Devil of a dog had some great fun on these wide open beaches.

We seem to like hills... This green one in Emu Park is home to the Singing ship.

Emu Park has some of the best picnic areas around - and easy parking for the Phantom.

These black cockatoos greeted us in Yeppoon. They might not sound pretty but the yellow and red under the tail is amazing!

Cyclone damage from Marcia is still evident on some of the Yeppoon beaches.

Our own Capricorn coast beauty. 💕
